Aminophylline for prevention and/or Treatment of Post-dural Puncture Headache: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis, Study Protocol
Review Question
Primary objective: Investigating the effect of aminophylline on prevention and/or treatment of post-dural puncture headache is the primary target of this study. Secondary objectives: 1- Estimating the effect of aminophylline on prevention and/or treatment of post-dural puncture headache by age group. 2- Estimating the effect of aminophylline on prevention and/or treatment of post-dural puncture headache by gender. 3- Evaluating potential heterogeneity and finding its root causes.
Study Type Included
All the clinical trials that have appropriately (according to an acceptable description) examined the preventive and/or therapeutic effects of aminophylline on post-dural puncture headache would be selected to be analyzed in this study. This study will not contain case reports, case series, observational studies, non-randomized trials, cross sectional studies, review articles, and protocol papers.
Condition Being Studied
Post-dural puncture headache, which is defined as a clinical manifestations of lumbar puncture, will be considered as the outcome of this study.
Participant
All the participants (male, female or both) undergoing lumbar puncture will be considered in this study.

Intervention
To be analyzed in this study, interventions must aim to prevent and/or ameliorate post-dural puncture headache using intravenously or orally administered aminophylline.
Comparator Control
Comparator arms of the included studies might be groups of participants that did not administer aminophylline to prevent and/or ameliorate post-dural puncture headache.
Main Outcome
The assessment of post-dural puncture headache will be the outcome measure of this study. Measures of effect The effect size is the Standardized Mean Difference according to means of pain scores before and after the intervention.
