The Safety and effectiveness of Aminophylline for treatment of postdural puncture headache: A meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials
Review Question
The primary objective of the current systematic review and meta-analysis is to investigate the Safety and effectiveness of aminophylline for treatment of post-dural puncture headache.
Study Type Included
Only randomized controlled studies are included for analysis. Letter, case series, review, before-after studies are excluded.
Condition Being Studied
Postdural puncture headache (PDPH) is a major complication of neuraxial anesthesia. Epidural blood patch remains the standardized treatment. However, an epidural blood patch may bring some complications such as infection. And some studies had reported that the use of aminophylline may prevent or treat the post-dural puncture headache. However, the efficacy of aminophylline remains to be clarified.
Participant
All participants (male, female, or both) undergoing lumbar puncture will be eligible to be analyzed in this systematic review and meta-analysis.

Intervention
Aminophylline is given as intervention. Different dosages of aminophylline are included. Only randomized controlled trials are included.
Comparator Control
Placebo or other analgesia drugs are used as comparators
Main Outcome
The risk of post-dural puncture headahce is the primary outcome.
Outcome Measure
Additional Outcome
Severity of pain or pain relief is used as the secondary outcome.
