- Title
- Effect of magnesium on vascular calcification in chronic kidney disease patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis
- Review Question
- The aim of this meta-analysis is to evalute the efficacy of magnesium on vascular calcification in chronic kidney disease patients
- Study Type Included
- Randomized controlled trials and case-control study will be included
- Condition Being Studied
- Vascular calcification is common in chronic kideney disease(CKD), especially in end-stage kidney disease, accounting for approximately 77.4% in Chinese dialysis patients. Many studies have proved that vascular calcification increased the risk of all-cause and cardiovascularof mortality in CKD patients. Many measures have been studied to prevent and treat it, including exploring the effects of magnesium. However, the efficacy of magnesium is uncertain.
- Participant
- Adults with chronic kidney disease older than 18 years, including renal replacement therapy patients.
- Animal
- Human Disease Modelled
- Intervention
- Magnesium was the main intervention(any form of magnesium supplementation, including drugs, dialysis prescriptions and diet)
- Comparator Control
- Placebo control or blank control
