At present, there are few drugs on the market to promote bone formation, and some of them are expensive with high side effects. Therefore, it is necessary to explore new drugs to promote bone formation.

- Inclusion criteria: randomized controlled trial studies Exclusion criteria: non-randomized controlled trial studies

- Inclusion criteria: animal models with osteoporosis or bone loss which were ovariectomized. Exclusion criteria: animal models with other bone metabolic disease. Ex vivo, in vitro and silico models can also exclude.
- Human Disease Modelled
- Osteoporosis, a disease that affects postmenopausal women and elderly men.
- Intervention
- Inclusion criteria: feed with red yeast rice or its extraction according to weight for at least 8 weeks by oral gavage. Exclusion criteria: feed with other drugs

- Inclusion criteria: vehicle-treated control, saline control or placebo control Exclusion criteria: other control conditions that don't meet inclusion criteria

- Inclusion criteria: bone mineral density;osteoblast proliferation;expression of alkaline phosphatase. Exclusion criteria: no relevant outcomes reported.
