- Title
- The effect of aromatherapy for women in labor: systematic review and meta-analysis
- Review Question
- How effective is the use of aromatherapy in reducing anxiety and pain during labor?
- Study Type Included
- Only Randomized Clinical Trials will be sought. But in the absence of RCTs, other study designs will be included, such as quasi-experimental and observational studies, in order to include the best items available in this review.
- Condition Being Studied
- The use of non-pharmacological therapies and integrative care practices during labor aims to contribute for the construction of a holistic view of professionals on women in labor. The use of essential oils for labor pain and maternal anxiety seems to be underused by professionals, for reasons of unfamiliarity or low number of good quality scientific evidence. Therefore, this study is justified to fill gaps in the literature that prevents the recognition of this technique in comprehensive care. It is believed that its results can contribute to popularize or use aromatherapy and make a normal birth experience more pleasant, giving an integral look at maternal needs.
