Title
Effectiveness of Folium Nelumbilis on Dyslipidemia :a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled Trials
Review Question
A meta-analysis will be exerted to compare the effects and safety of folium nelumbinis on blood lipid control in patients with dyslipidemia.
Study Type Included
The eligible studies shall be a randomized controlled trial, with or without blind method. Animal studies will be excluded.
Condition Being Studied
Dyslipidemia is a major risk factor for the occurrence and development of atherosclerotic diseases, and the resulting cardiovascular disease has become the main cause of death worldwide. Lifestyle and drug intervention can reduce the level of cholesterol, thus reducing the incidence of cardiovascular disease.
Participant
Inclusion criteria: patients older than 18 years old with dyslipidemia diagnosed according to the guidelines for the prevention and treatment of dyslipidemia in Chinese adults (revised in 2016),regardless of nationality, race and gender. Exclusion criteria: 1 the patients with dyslipidemia caused by liver, kidney, thyroid diseases or other drugs. 2 the control group combined with other traditional Chinese medicine and traditional Chinese medicine treatment methods such as acupuncture, external application, massage, etc. 3 repeatedly published literature. 4 literature with incomplete or missing analysis data.
Animal
Human Disease Modelled
Intervention
Studies that meet the above inclusion criteria should include at least one of the following interventions: 1 In the experimental group, Folium Nelumbilis(lotus leaf ) extract was used, and lotus leaf was used as the main component of traditional Chinese medicine or Chinese patent medicine on the market; in the control group, no treatment or placebo treatment was used; 2 On the basis of Western medicine standard treatment or conventional treatment, the experimental group was added with lotus leaf, lotus leaf extract preparation, Chinese patent medicine or Chinese compound medicine with lotus leaf as the main component.
Comparator Control
The control group was treated with western medicine or conventional therapy or no treatment or placebo treatment was used.
Main Outcome
Main outcome measures: low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol(TC), research dropout rate. Measures of effect Fasting measurements of lipid profile before and after the study. For continuous outcome indicators, the MD and SMD are used for evaluation. For dichotomous outcome indicators, the effect value OR is used for evaluation.
Outcome Measure
Additional Outcome
Body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC). Measures of effect Fasting measurements of BMI and WC before and after the study. For continuous outcome indicators, the MD and SMD are used for evaluation.
