What are the effects of sorghum consumption on human health outcomes?
Study Type Included
This review will be restricted to interventional study designs.
Condition Being Studied
Biological markers of health (blood glucose levels, overweight/obesity, blood lipid levels) and/or the presence of chronic disease (including cardiovascular disease, diabetes or cancer).
Participant
Human subjects of any age, gender, residence, health status or socioeconomic status.
Animal
Human Disease Modelled
Intervention
Dietary sorghum consumption (both wholegrain and/or refined sorghum).
Comparator Control
No or lower sorghum consumption.
Main Outcome
The main outcome of the study is the effect of sorghum consumption on health outcomes in humans. It is expected that several different health outcomes will arise from the reviewed evidence. Biological markers of health including blood glucose levels and blood lipid levels as well as the presence of chronic health conditions including overweight/obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer.
