Review Question
Does lysine analog administration for the reduction of bleeding increase the incidence of thromboembolic events in cancer patients?
Study Type Included
We will be including randomized controlled trials only.
Condition Being Studied
Adverse events caused by lysine analogs.
Participant
Inclusion: Cancer patients at risk of bleeding. Exclusion: Children (<18 years of age).
Animal
Human Disease Modelled
Intervention
Administration of a lysine analog to reduce bleeding and subsequent blood loss. This includes the administration to both surgical patients and non-surgical patients. We will not be restricting inclusion to any specific dose of the drug, route of administration, or timing of administration.
Comparator Control
Placebo (saline solution) or active control such as another antifibrinolytic agent.
Main Outcome
The occurence of thromboembolic events.
Outcome Measure
Additional Outcome
Any adverse event.
