- Title
- Second Treatment Risk After Radioiodine Therapy for Hyperthyroidism: A Meta-Analysis
- Review Question
- What is the prevalence of second treatment in patients with radioiodine therapy ?
- Study Type Included
- randomized controlled trial and Clinical trial will be included.
- Condition Being Studied
- Hyperthyroidism is a common disease of the endocrine system, which is caused by excessive thyroid hormone synthesis or secretion by the thyroid gland. Laboratory tests show that thyroid hormones T3 and T4 are increased, and TSH is decreased. Patients with hyperthyroidism often have systemic dysfunction and disorders. The main manifestations are systemic hypermetabolic symptoms such as palpitations, shaking hands, fear of heat, weight loss, hyperactivity, eating more, drinking more and so on. The global incidence of hyperthyroidism ranges from 0.2% to 1.3%. At present, there are three main methods for the treatment of hyperthyroidism: drug therapy, radioiodine therapy and surgical treatment. Treatment rates with reflex iodine are higher in North America, and rates with internal medicine are higher in Europe, Asia, and Oceania. How to accurately manage the outcome of radioiodine therapy in patients with hyperthyroidism and develop individualized drug methods are clinical problems that endocrinologists and nuclear medicine doctors are actively solving at present. Therefore, it is particularly important to evaluate the condition of patients with radioiodine therapy before treatment, and the prognosis and recurrence risk after treatment.
