- Review Question
- Huperzine A and Ginkgo biloba extract are the commonly used medicines in Alzheimer Disease which come from Chinese herbal medicine. Some studies have already showed efficacy and safety of those two medicines. But we don't know which is better and the relationship between them. This network meta-analysis aim to compare the efficacy and safety of Huperzine A and Ginkgo biloba extract in patients with AD in randomized control studies.
- Study Type Included
- A study will be included if it was a randomized controlled trial.Studies will be excluded if:a) they are animal studies;b) they are reviews,conference presentations or unpublished reports;c)they are duplicated reports;d) there is no control group.

- Inclusion criteria: The study included patients diagnosed with AD based on the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10),Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders(DSM-III, DSM-IIIR and DSM-IV), National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke and the AD dementia and Related Disorders Association (NINCD-ADRDA), Chinese Classification of Mental Disorders(CCMD-3) or other well-recognized AD diagnostic criteria at home and abroad were included in the analysis. Exclusion criteria: 1) Combined with other types of dementia or cognitive impairment disease. 2) Age less than 50 years old.

- Main Outcome
- MMSE (Mini Metal Status Examination), HDS(Hastgawa Dementia Scale), ADAS-cog (Alzheimer’s disease assessment scale-cognitive), WMS (Wechsler Memory Scale) and Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
