- Study Type Included
- We will include randomized trials to assess the beneficial effects of the papaya leaf extract treatments, and will supplement these with observational studies (including cohort and case–control studies) for the assessment of harms.
- Condition Being Studied
- Dengue virus infections include dengue fever, dengue hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome. Patients with dengue virus infections recovered after being treated with papaya leaf extract.
- Participant
- Inclusion: Patients with dengue virus infections (as diagnosed using any recognized diagnostic criteria) and who were treated with papaya leaf extract. Exclusion: Patients with dengue virus infections but who were not treated with papaya leaf extract.

- Intervention
- A group of patients diagnosed with dengue virus infections were treated with papaya leaf extract. This intervention was compared with another group of dengue patients who were not treated with papaya leaf extract.
- Comparator Control
- A group of dengue patients who were not treated with papaya leaf extract.
- Main Outcome
- Full recovery from dengue virus infections. Measures of effect No recurrence of dengue virus infections within 5 years.
