Title
Rehmannia glutinosa for perimenopausal syndrome in breast cancer patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Review Question
Whether could breast cancer patients with perimenopausal syndrome benefit from Chinese herbal medicine with Rehmannia glutinosa as the monarch drug(a drug that plays a major therapeutic role in a prescription)? How do modified Kupperman symptoms score change after taking Chinese herbal medicine with Rehmannia glutinosa as the monarch drug comparing with western medicine therapy?
Study Type Included
Randomized controlled trials will be included
Condition Being Studied
Breast cancer is a common malignant tumor that is more prevalent in women and its incidence has been on the rise in recent years. Chemotherapy and endocrine therapy play an important role in the treatment of breast cancer, but those treatments will lead to perimenopausal syndrome such as hot flushes, sweating, irritability, insomnia, depression, fatigue, and palpitations, which seriously affect patients' quality of life and confidence in treatment. The main treatment for perimenopausal syndrome is hormone replacement therapy, but hormone replacement therapy is not indicated for patients with breast cancer. Oral Chinese medicine is also a treatment for perimenopausal syndrome in breast cancer patients, but there are many different formulas. Chinese herbal medicines with Rehmannia glutinosa as the monarch drug(a drug that plays a major therapeutic role in a prescription) are one of the important types of formulas.
Participant
Inclusion criteria: Adults with pathologically diagnosed breast cancer who also have the perimenopausal syndrome(as diagnosed by a clinician, or using any recognized diagnostic criteria). exclusion criteria: 1. Adults with mental illness, severe gynecological disease, and other serious medical conditions 2. Pregnant and lactating women 3. Adults who are participating in other clinical drug trials or using drugs that may affect the results of the clinical observation
Animal
Human Disease Modelled
