Title
The use of Glucosamine and colorectal cancer risk: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Review Question
This study is to explore whether glucosamine use is related to the occurrence of colorectal cancer and whether it can be used as a protective factor.
Study Type Included
Randomized controlled trials (RCTs), cohort study and case-control study will be included.
Condition Being Studied
Human colorectal cancer is a common malignant tumor that causes a substantial burden worldwide. In 2018, there were an estimated 1.8 million new cases of colorectal cancer, accounting for 10.2% of new cases worldwide, and nearly 0.8 million deaths, accounting for 9.2% of global deaths. Many lifestyle factors, such as smoking, alcohol consumption, being overweight or obese, and physical inactivity contribute to an increased risk of colorectal cancer. Although there have been important advances in colorectal cancer treatment, such as surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy, the prognosis continues to be poor for patients with advanced colorectal cancer.
Participant
Adults with glucosamine use will be included.
