- Title
- Preclinical evidence for Ginsenoside Rg1 against Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus bowel disease: a meta‑analysis and systematic review
- Review Question
- To explore the evidence for the effectiveness of Ginsenoside Rg1 for modifing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and its complications
- Study Type Included
- Randomized controlled trials
- Condition Being Studied
- Ginsenoside Rg1 constitutes the most active, as well as abundant steroid saponin among these saponins , exhibiting a diverse range of biological and pharmacological activities, such as anti-oxidation, anti-aging, anti-inflammation, and anti-diabetes. Meanwhile, it is a protopanaxatriol-type ginsenoside with different glycosyl groups in C-3/C-6 and C-20 positions, which can eliminate glycosyl groups of C-20 and C-6 during metabolism . Although a recent study demonstrated that ginsenoside Rg1 could have a potential therapeutic effect on T2D , its relationship with T2D and the intestinal microbiota remains unknown. Therefore, our research aims to determine the efficacy of ginsenoside Rg1 supplementation in ameliorating T2D in Sprague Dawley (SD) rats fed a HFD, as well as the relationship between ginsenoside Rg1 and T2D-linked parameters and the intestinal microflora.
