Title
Comparison of Catheter Ablation With Vein of Marshall Ethanol Infusion and Catheter Ablation Alone on the Outcome of Persistent Atrial Fibrillation: Protocol for a Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
Review Question
The aim of this meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of catheter ablation with vein of marshall ethanol Infusion for patients with persistent atrial fibrillation.
Study Type Included
Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) will be included.
Condition Being Studied
Ethanol infusion into the VOM has been considered a suitable adjuvant strategy for treating mitral flutter after failed endocardial ablation, as well as perimitral flutter (mitral flutter with epicardial connections) generated following pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) or mitral valve surgery. The VOM has gained prominence as a therapeutic target because of its unique anatomical location by connecting the coronary sinus (CS) with the pulmonary veins (PVs), the VOM promotes autonomic arrhythmogenesis. However, the efficacy of VOM ethanol infusion has not been evaluated systematically.
Participant
Adults with persistent atrial fibrillation (as diagnosed by a clinician, or using any recognized diagnostic criteria) will be included.
Animal
Human Disease Modelled
Intervention
Catheter ablation combined with vein of marshall ethanol Infusion was the main intervention
Comparator Control
Catheter Ablation Alone for patients with persistent atrial fibrillation
Main Outcome
Recurrence rate of atrial tachyarrhythmias after catheter ablation combine with vein of marshall ethanol Infusion. Measures of effect Odds ratio (OR) with 95% confdence intervals (CIs)
Outcome Measure
Additional Outcome
Clinical complications of catheter ablation Measures of effect Odds ratio (OR) with 95% confdence intervals (CIs)
