Title
efficacy and safety of adjunctive ethanol infusion into the vein of marshall during cather ablation for persistent atrial fibrillation
Review Question
the efficacy and safety of adjunctive ethanol infusion into the vein of marshall during cather ablation for persistent atrial fibrillation is unclear.
Study Type Included
They are randomized controlled trials or observational studies comparing ajunctive ethanol infusion into the vein of marshall versus catheter ablation only for persistent arial fibrillation. outcomes include any kind of atrial arrhythmia, include atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter , atrial tachycardia and the complications of the operation.
Condition Being Studied
Atrial fibrillation is the most common cardiac arrhythmia and is associated with increased morbidity and mortality.Catheter ablation is an option for atrial fibrillation therapy, and has an high successful rate for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. But its successful rate is lower for persistent atrial fibrillation.
Participant
patients that were diagnosed as persistent atrial fibrillation and underwent catheter ablation or ajunctive ethanol infusion into the vein of marshall.
Animal
Human Disease Modelled
Intervention
ajunctive ethanol infusion into the vien of marshall during catheter ablation for persistent atrial fibrillation
Comparator Control
catheter ablation for persisten atrial fibrillation
Main Outcome
Our primary outcome was recurrence of any kind of atrial arrhythmia, included atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter and atrial tachycardia 3 months later after the operation. The secondary outcome was the complication of the operation, included cardiac tamponade and stroke. Measures of effect We used odds ratios(ORs) and 95% confidence intervals(CIs) to present results for the primary outcome, which is a dichotomous variable
