- Title
- Lignan and Enterolactone and Survival in Women with Breast Cancer: A Meta-Analysis
- Review Question
- The purpose of this meta-analysis is to evaluate the impact of lignan and its products enterolactone on the survival of breast cancer patients.
- Study Type Included
- Cohort study or case-control study or cross-sectional study
- Condition Being Studied
- Although many risk and prognostic factors of breast cancer have been established, and numerous biomarkers have been linked to breast cancer, our understanding of breast cancer prognosis is still evolving. Phytoestrogens are a large group of plant-derived compounds and contain a phenolic ring which allows them to bind to the oestrogen receptor (ER), showing weak oestrogenic activity. Lignan is a kind of phytoestrogens, and its relationship with the prognosis of breast cancer deserves our attention.
- Participant
- We use the following criteria: 1) research conducted in women diagnosed with breast cancer, 2) report lignan intake or serum enterolactone(either before or after diagnosis) as exposure, 3) report all causes or Breast cancer-specific mortality as the result of interest, and 4) provide an estimate of the effect as a relative risk (RR) or hazard ratio, and a 95% confidence interval (CI) for the corresponding mortality.
