- Condition Being Studied
- Urinary tract infections (UTI) are a common condition. Among them, cystitis is the most frequent disease. Treatment for UTI/cystitis ranges from over-the-counter medications to antibiotics if the cause is an infection. In such patients, antimicrobials are often inappropriately prescribed, and their use is associated with the selection for antimicrobial-resistant organisms colonizing or infecting the urinary tract. Resistance can make it difficult to treat future UTIs.
