Review Question
To provide pooled estimates of research comparing the effects of D-mannose versus other agents in recurrent urinary tract prevention in adult women and to assess relative adverse side effects addressed within these studies.
Study Type Included
Metanalysis to include randomized controlled trials and cross-over trials assessing prevention of urinary tract infections in women with D-mannose with a comparator arm. Other original research can be included in the systematic review but will not be included in the metanalysis.

Participant
Inclusion criteria: a.) Original clinical research for patients receiving care in an outpatient setting for recurrent urinary tract infections (defined as at least 2 in 6 months, at least 3 in 12 months), b) subject age of 18 years or older, c) one of the study arms to include D-mannose as the UTI prevention intervention. Exclusion criteria: a.) lab or animal based research, b.) publications written in languages other than English, c.) duplicate publications, d.) published study protocols, e.) not reporting primary data from original research, f.) subjects do not include adult women.
