Review Question
What is the influence of the use of guaraná (Paullinia cupana) on fatigue in patients with cancer?
Study Type Included
We will include only randomised controlled trials (RCTs)
Condition Being Studied
Fatigue in patients with cancer. Guarana Supplements in adults and elderly.
Participant
Patients diagnosed or cancer survivors, over 18 years of age, both sexes,  fatigue as a primary outcome, studies using guarana (Paullinia cupana). Will be excluded pregnant women, patients with cachexia, another intervention concomitant to the use of guarana
Animal
Human Disease Modelled
Intervention
The Supplementation of guarana has been used for the non-pharmacological treatment of fatigue in cancer patients. Fatigue is a symptom, of multifactorial origins that leads to suffering and loss of physical capacity in this population. Dietary supplements are low cost for the management of this symptom.
Comparator Control
Placebo. Dietary Supplements or instructions not used to improve the fatigue.
Main Outcome
Fatigue including any specific instrument for the evaluation.
Outcome Measure
Additional Outcome
Quality of life, sleep quality, pain, nutritional status, adverse effects and inflammatory mediators
