Condition Being Studied
Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder, defined by abnormally elevated blood glucose, resulting from the defects in insulin secretion or insulin resistance in diabetic patients. Chronic hyperglycemia can cause severe damage to various cells or organs, such as the retina, heart, kidney, and blood vessels in diabetic patients. while most fruits and vegetables, as well as dairy products, have a few amounts of Epigallocatechin‑3‑gallate. Epigallocatechin‑3‑gallate can increase the number and phosphorylation rates of insulin binding receptors and thus facilitated the transportation of glucose into the liver, muscle, and adipose tissue
