Review Question
- What is the impact of nandrolone decanoate on body composition (e.g., muscle mass, fat mass, bone mineral density) and physical function (muscle strength and physical performance measures) in human adults? - What is the optimal dose and duration of administration to provide meaningful and/or significant improvements to the outcomes of interests identified above? - Do individuals of different sex and age respond differently in response to nandrolone decanoate injections?

Inclusion: Randomised Controlled Trials Exclusion: -Open-label RCTs -In vivo and in vitro studies. -Observational studies. -Human interventions including additional pharmacological means which improve physical fitness (i.e,, use of other anabolic androgenic steroids).

Comparator Control
Placebo or appropriate control. Interventions that also involve exercise training and/or a nutritional supplementation/manipulation will be also allowed only if they are followed by both groups in a given intervention.

- Muscle mass (kg) - Lean soft tissue mass (kg) - Fat mass (kg)/Body fat % - Bone mineral density/content (kg) - Ηandgrip strength; isotonic/isometric (e.g. knee extension/flexion/Nm) and/or isoinertial dynamometry strength tests (e.g. repetition maximum strength tests) of either upper or lower body - 6-minute walking test (m) - SPPB (short physical performance battery) - Gait speed (m/s) - Timed up to go test - Other measures of muscle strength and function (i.e., bench press, deadlift, squat - short physical performance battery, balance, timed up and go test) Measures of effect (Standardised) Mean Difference
