- We aim to evaluate and rank the effects of commonly use edible vegetable oils (sunflower oil, corn oil, soybean oil, sesame oil, flaxseed oil, canola oil, safflower oil, cottonseed oil, olive oil, avocado oil, peanut oil) on improving metabolic status (abdomen circumference, blood pressure, low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) , high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), fasting glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin) in patients with metabolic disorders.

- In the 2015-2020 dietary guidelines for Americans, foods rich in unsaturated fatty acid are recommended to replace those containing saturated fatty acid, which aims to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases events (CVD) and CVD-related deaths. Metabolic disorders, including waist obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia and hyperglycemia, are risk factors of CVD. Therefore, for patients with metabolic disorders, a healthy eating pattern is as important as drug therapy. Vegetable oils are one of main sources of unsaturated fatty acid in our daily life. However, there are various of edible vegetable oils from different regions and countries, and the beneficial effects of those agents on improving metabolic status such as regulating blood pressure, blood lipids and glucose are inconsistent. Up to now, no research has been done to compare the effects of different vegetable oils on metabolic status in patients with metabolic disorders.

- Patients with metabolic disorders: I. Central obesity; II. Hyperlipidemia: 1)Hypertriglyceridemia: triglycerides ≥1·7 mmol/L; or 2) Low HDL cholesterol: <1·0 mmol/L (male), <1·3 mmol/L (female); or 3) Medication III. Hypertension: blood pressure ≥135/85 mm Hg or medication IV. Fasting plasma glucose ≥6·1 mmol/L or T2DM or Medication
