Review Question
Previous studies have reported the association between copper and stroke or other cardiovascular disease, but the association between copper level and risk of cardiovascular diseases and mortality still unclear.
Study Type Included
No restrictions will be imposed on study design. Search limits: Studies reporting relevant data; Studies on humans only; Two reviewers independently reviewed study eligibility; any disagreements were resolved by consensus.
Condition Being Studied
Cardiovascular disease is a disease with complex etiology, in addition to common causes such as age, sex, family history, smoking, hypertension, diabetes, lipid metabolism disorders and so on, more and more new evidence shows that long-term exposure to metals may affect the immune system and lead to cardiovascular disease. Copper is an important metal element, and previous studies have shown that copper is involved in many balance mechanisms in vivo, including specific immunity, inflammation and oxidative stress.We aim to summarize the association between copper and cardiovascular disease risk through a comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis.
