Title
Association between Urinary Albumin-creatinine Ratio (UACR) and Risk of Cardiovascular Disease and Mortality: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Prospective Studies
Review Question
Our aim was to investigate whether urinary albumin-creatinine ratio (UACR) is releated to Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) and Mortality.
Study Type Included
Prospective studies conducted in general population.
Condition Being Studied
Cardiovascular Disease and Mortality
Participant
Inclusion: Adults without CVD or its subtypes like myocardial infarction (MI) and coronary heart disease (CHD). Exclusion: Adolescents (under 18 years old) and elderly people (over 70). Patients accepted specific therapies including surgical intervention and chemotherapy, etc.
Animal
Human Disease Modelled
Intervention
The urinary albumin-creatinine ratio (UACR) was the primary exposure, while other indicators of renal function such as urinary protein, urinary creatinine, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), serum creatinine, and blood urea nitrogen were secondary exposures.
Comparator Control
Not applicable
Main Outcome
Cardiovascular disease and mortality.
Outcome Measure
Additional Outcome
Study Method
Meta-analysis, Prospective meta-analysis (PMA), Systematic review
