- Title
- Role of endogenous biomarkers Cystatin C compared to Creatinine among diabetic CKD patients: a systematic review
- Review Question
- This systematic review is focused to determine the role of endogenous bio-markers (Cystatin C and Creatinine) and also to identify the prominent biomarker in assessment of the kidney function among diabetic chronic kidney disease patients.
- Study Type Included
- Inclusion criteria The following inclusion criteria are applied to our search: randomized controlled trials, prospective cohort studies, cross-sectional studies, English articles. Exclusion criteria All editorials, newspaper, case study, case report, study conducted among pregnant women or those who are breastfeeding, study participants less than 18 years old, non-English paper, systematic review was excluded from this review.
- Condition Being Studied
- To evaluate the role of endogenous bio-markers (Cyatatin C and Creatinine) among Diabetic Chronic Kidney Disease Patients.
- Participant
- Study selection The populations of interest for this systematic review are diabetic chronic kidney disease patients in which the role of Cystatin C and Creatinine would be identified in assessment of the kidney function. In addition to these the following inclusion and exclusion criteria will be used for this systematic review.
- Animal
- Human Disease Modelled
- Intervention
- Creatinine is commonly used endogenous bio-marker among Diabetic Chronic Kidney Patients. There are certain drawbacks which are reported by Creatinine in certain clinical research studies. It includes effect of body mass, food intake, age, and analytic complications associated with evaluation methods of Creatinine. Cystatin C has been considered as valid endogenous bio-markers by Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO). Moreover Cystatin C accuracy in the identification of kidney function has highly been applauded by most of the research studies. In this context it will be the first Systematic Review which will put mirror on the current shortcomings faced in the clinical setup due to creatinine use as a bio-marker and inclusion of Cystatin C as a confirmatory bio-marker to refine the accuracy in the evaluation of kidney function.
- Comparator Control
- The new endogenous bio-marker Cystatin C role will be compared in diabetic chronic kidney disease patients with commonly used Creatinine to identify their performance in accurately evaluating kidney function.
- Main Outcome
- The main outcome of the review will be that we will predict from the collected manuscripts data, which bio-marker is playing a leading role in the assessment of diabetic chronic kidney disease patients. Because with the growing world population it is extremely important and its the need of the time to look into new alternative options as well for possible solutions. Measures of effect Estimated Glomerular filtration based on Creatinine and Cystatin.
- Outcome Measure
- Additional Outcome
- We will also look at which bio-marker is effective in early diagnosis and also predict the risk of end-stage renal disease among diabetic chronic kidney disease patients. Early diagnostic properties are lacking in currently available biomarker, so it is important to look back into the literature for possible alternatives regarding it. Measures of effect We also check that which biomarker eGFR is sensitive and specific in classifying early CKD by comparing with the gold standard in the manuscripts.
