- What are the effects of different vegetable oils to health outcomes?
- Study Type Included
- The review will concentrate on systematic reviews of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and randomised or quasi - randomised trials. By quasi, we mean where the unit of treatment allocation is, for example, by alternation rather than random. Where no systematic reviews of RCTs or trials are available we shall search for studies from the next level of evidence ie systematic reviews of other evidence and population based registries

- Any studies that examined and reported the impact on consumption of edible vegetable oils. These include 1) almond oil 2) coconut oil 3) canola oil 4) corn oil 5) echium oil 6) hempseed oil 7) linseed oil 8) microalgae oil 9) olive oil 10) peanut oil 11) palm oil 12) rice bran oil 13) soybean oil 14) sunflower oil 15) sacha inchi oil 16) walnut oil 17) Other options such as single product vegetable oil
- Comparator Control
- Any studies that examined and reported the impact on consumption of edible vegetable oils.
- Main Outcome
- The following items will be sought for all included studies: The primary outcomes will be Objective measures (a) Blood lipid levels (b) Blood pressure (c) Glucose levels (d) Any other biochemical outcomes Health status measures (a) Condition-specific health measures (b) Generic measures of Quality of Life/General health status measures (e.g. Short Form 36 (Ware et al, 1993)) Measures of effect Relative risk, odds ratio as reported. If possible number needed to treat
