- Study Type Included
- Inclusion criteria : All human randomized control trials assessing the effectiveness of orally administered 'Ashwagandha' (Withania somnifera) extract as monotherapy in reducing stress, anxiety, and depression compared to placebo or TAU or active comparator shall be included in the review. Exclusion: Descriptive studies, quasi-experimental studies, narrative reviews, case reports, case series, and letters to the editor. Randomized controlled trials on patients with major mental illness will be excluded as will trials using Ashwagandha as an adjunct to psychotropic agents (antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, anti-depressants, or anti-anxiety agents).
