- According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA 2020) guidelines Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a major global public health problem with increasing prevalence for all group age worldwide, Gymnema sylvestre is the most frequently used plant for treatment of Diabetes Mellitus amongst patients with this condition in Asia, especially in India. Hypoglycemic effect of Gymnema sylvestre have been widely studied in laboratories. A unique feature for the purpose of systematic review and meta analysis is that coverage of studies for considerations will be extended to Gymnema sylvestre as an alternative hypoglycemic agent in management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

- Inclusion criteria: Adult patients over 18 years of age. Participants either those with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus or newly diagnosed, or those at higher risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (e.g. people who are overweight, obese or who have hypertension or prediabetes or mild diabetes.

- Gymnema sylvestre as a herbal drug in any formulation.

- Comparison with baseline level of Diabetic Markers like Fasting blood glucose level (FBG) and Postprandial blood glucose level (PPBG).

- Change in Fasting blood glucose levels (FBG) and postprandial blood glucose (PPBG). Measures of effect Standardized Mean differences with 95% Cl

- Changes in the Body mass index (BMI), Lipid profiles like Total cholesterol (TC), Triglycerides (TG), Low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C) and High-density lipoprotein (HDL-C). Measures of effect Standardized Mean differences with 95% Cl.
