- Title
- Effectiveness of the gut microbiota-bile acid pathway (BAS) in the treatment of Type 2 diabetes: A protocol for systematic review and meta analysis
- Review Question
- To evaluate the efficacy and safety of gut microbial-bile acid pathway (BAS) in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
- Study Type Included
- 1.The literatures of type 2 diabetes patients were included without restriction on gender, age, race, disease course and blood glucose control of the subjects.there is no language and publications limitation. Non-RCT, observational study, reviews, experimental study, clinical case reports, and animal research literature will be excluded.
- Condition Being Studied
- Type 2 diabetes
- Participant
- 1.The literatures of type 2 diabetes patients were included without restriction on gender, age, race, disease course and blood glucose control of the subjects. 2. The relevant literatures included in human intestinal flora do not strictly restrict the test methods and key indicators of fecal specimens. 3. Relevant literatures with no statistically significant difference in general data between the experimental group and the control group were included. 4.There is no restriction on whether blind method or distributive hiding method is used to include Chinese and English literatures whose research type is correlation study. 5. References that clearly indicated standard deviation (SD), mean value or which could be calculated by formula were included.
- Animal
- Human Disease Modelled
- Intervention
- The effect of drug, diet and exercise on the regulation of type 2 diabetes mellitus through the bile acid pathway of intestinal flora.
- Comparator Control
- 1. Exclude duplicate literature. 2. Exclude non-relevant research literatures such as reviews. 3. The literatures of non-type 2 diabetes patients, such as type 1 diabetes, gestational diabetes and other special types of diabetes, were excluded. 4. References that could not be included in the meta-analysis were excluded due to the absence of relevant data, including the absence of basic data of the experimental group and the control group, and the absence of standard deviation of measurement data. 5. Literature with obvious errors in statistical methods and contradictory experimental results were excluded.
- Main Outcome
- The systematic review will provide high-quality evidence to assess the Effectiveness of the gut microbiota-bile acid pathway (BAS) in the treatment of Type 2 diabetes: a protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis. Measures of effect The sensitivity analysis was performed by excluding one study from the meta-analysis. If the estimated value of the point exceeded the 95% CI of the total effect amount (or was significantly different from the combined effect amount) after the study was excluded, it indicated that there were potential risks and this study needs to be further reviewed.
- Outcome Measure
- Additional Outcome
- In the study, Risk ratios with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for analysis will be presented for dichotomous data while standard mean difference (SMD) or mean difference (MD) with 95% confidence intervals will be used for analyzing the continuous data. Measures of effect The statistical heterogeneity of the trials was assessed by χ² test and expressed as I² value. When there is no heterogeneity or the heterogeneity was moderate (P > 0.1, I² < 50%), a fixed effect model (FEM) was applied; otherwise, a random effect model (REM) was applied.
