Title
Do dentin bonding agents containing ethanol-based solvents present better clinical performance than acetone-based dentin bonding agents in non-carious cervical lesions? A systematic review
Review Question
Do dentin bonding agents containing ethanol-based solvents present better clinical performance than acetone-based dentin bonding agents in non-carious cervical lesions?
Study Type Included
Controlled clinical trials (randomized or not).
Condition Being Studied
The present protocol intends to review the clinical perfomance and outcomes of different approaches in the management of non-carious cervical lesions (ethanol or acetone-based dental adhesives).
Participant
Adult patients with non-carious cervical lesions restored with resin composites.
Animal
Human Disease Modelled
Intervention
Composite fillings performed with acetone-based dentin bonding agents.
Comparator Control
Composite fillings performed with ethanol-based dentin bonding agents.
Main Outcome
Clinical performance. Measures of effect This review will compare the longevity of composite fillings performed with ethanol or acetone-based dental adhesives in non-carious cervical lesions according to the parameters presented in the available literature, including, but not limited to, retention rates, marginal discoloration, secondary caries, and fractures.
Outcome Measure
Additional Outcome
Overall survival rates Measures of effect Survival rates at different follow-up periods of acetone versus alcohol-based bonding agents.
