Title
Prognostic role of aspartate aminotransferase-lymphocyte ratio index (ALRI) in patients with colorectal cancer
Review Question
The aim of this study is to investigate the prognostic role of aspartate aminotransferase-lymphocyte ratio index in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer.
Study Type Included
No resrictions
Condition Being Studied
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cause of death from cancer in Western Europe and North America. Literature has shown the relationship between systemic chronic inflammation and various types of cancer, including CRC. Accumulating evidence has indicated that the systemic inflammatory response (SIR) is pivotal in tumor development. Inflammation factors, such as aspartate aminotransferase-lymphocyte ratio index(ALRI), Glasgow Prognostic Score(GPS), modified Glasgow Prognostic Score(mGPS), C-reactive protein(CRP).
Participant
The following inclusion criteria were used: (1) the diagnosis of CRC was made based on pathologic examination or the current ongoing clinical guidelines(2)articles investigating the relation of ALRI and prognosis for CRC; (3) ALRI levels were collected before any treatment such as the chemoradiotherapy, surgery, and neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy; (4) full-text papers published; (5) the outcome of interest included OS, or DFS with hazards ratios (HRs) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs). The following exclusion criteria were used: (1) letters, editorials, expert opinions, case reports, abstract, s and reviews; (2) nonhuman studies; (3) if data sets were duplicated or overlapped, only the most recent information was included. (4) studies with insufficient data for estimating hazard ratio and 95% confidence interval. (5) studies were not written in English.
