- Title
- Variants in Factor V Leiden, Factor II, Antithrombin III, Protein C and Protein S as a reason for ischemic stroke in young adults: a meta-analysis
- Review Question
- The study aims to investigate whether pathogenic variants in Factor V Leiden, Factor II, Antithrombin III, Protein C, and Protein S could be involved in the etiology of the ischemic stroke in young adults
- Study Type Included
- Case-control studies, which meet the inclusion criteria
- Condition Being Studied
- Ischemic stroke in younger adults is far less common than that among older adults. However, the etiology in these cases is very complex and could be due to genetic predisposition to thrombophilia.
- Participant
- We will include case-control studies that involve young adults with ischemic stroke, who underwent genetic testing for predisposition to thrombophilia.
- Animal
- Human Disease Modelled
- Intervention
- Pathogenic variants in Factor V Leiden, Factor II, Prothrombin, Protein C, Protein S, Antithrombin III, which might predispose to ischemic stroke at a younger age.
- Comparator Control
- We will recruit case-control studies, where the control group consists of healthy individuals, who have been tested for the same pathogenic variants in the genes of interest.
- Main Outcome
- The main outcomes are: to evaluate the role of pathogenic variants in Factor V Leiden, Factor II, Prothrombin, Protein C, Protein S, Antithrombin III in the etiology of ischemic stroke in young adults. Measures of effect
- Outcome Measure
- Additional Outcome
- An additional outcome would be gathering information about the age, gender, geographical setting, the health status of the included individuals.
