Title
Dose airborne particle abrasion with alumina particle have positive effect on the monolithic zirconia? A systematic review
Review Question
Dose airborne particle abrasion with alumina particle have positive effect on the monolithic zirconia?
Study Type Included
In Vitro Tests; Clinical Trials and Randomized Controlled Studies.
Condition Being Studied
Zirconia is a novel material for dental restoration. However, its bonding strength is lower than traditional ceramics, which results in the debonding of the restoration. Numerous studies had focused on how to improve the bonding strength of zirconia. As many studies suggest, airborne-particle abrasion with alumina particle is a valid method to improve the mechanical retention of the zirconia restoration and it is used commonly in the clinic. In recent years, monolithic zirconia has been popular because of its improved esthetic property compared with the traditional zirconia. However, there is controversy about whether airborne-particle abrasion with alumina particle has positive effect on monolithic zirconia.
Participant
Inclusion: Restorations produced from monolithic zirconia Exclusion: Orthodontics attachment produced from monolithic zirconia
Animal
Human Disease Modelled
Intervention
Airborne-particle abrasion with alumina particle are defined as using an instrument that is able to provide airborne-particle abrasion in certain pressure to rough the surface of restoration materials.
Comparator Control
untreated. A group of restorations which are not received airborne-particle abrasion with alumina particle and remain as-sintered.
Main Outcome
Shear bond strength test, tensile bond strength test, micro-shear bond strength test or micro-tensile bond strength test is used to measure the bonding strength. Providing an evidence to establish a bonding protocol of monolithic zirconia restoration.
Outcome Measure
Additional Outcome
The optional parameter of airborne-particle abrasion with alumina particle, such as distance, pressure and particle size.
