CALCIUM SILICATE-BASED ENDODONTIC SEALERS PRESENT BIOLOGICAL PROPERTIES GREATER THAN AH PLUS? A SYSTEMATC REVIEW
Review Question
Based on in vivo animal studies and in vitro laboratory studies, premixed calcium silicate-based endodontic sealers have better biological properties compared to AH Plus? Context and rationale Calcium silicate-based sealers seem to be promising as a material of choice during endodontic treatment due to their biological properties. This study proposes to carry out a systematic literature review, organized according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA), with the objective of answering the following research question: “Based on in vivo animal studies and in vitro laboratory studies, premixed calcium silicate-based endodontic sealers have better biological properties compared to AH Plus?”. The results of this research will provide information that may assist the dental surgeon in selecting the best root canal sealer to be used in clinical practice.

Inclusion criteria: Animals and in vitro studies: Cross-sectional studies. Exclusion criteria: Clinical trials, cohort studies, case and control studies.

Inclusion criteria: Animals: rats, all strains, all sexes. Exclusion criteria: In silico studies and human studies will be excluded.
Human Disease Modelled
Toxicity of endodontic sealers; biocompatibility; citotoxicity; genotoxicity.
Intervention
Inclusion criteria: Premixed calcium silicate-based endodontic sealers Exclusion criteria: Calcium silicate-based endodontic sealers not premixed and sealers not calcium silicate-based.
Comparator Control
Inclusion criteria: Animals and in vitro studies: Treated with a different intervention (AH Plus sealer). Exclusion criteria: Animals and in vitro studies: All other comparator conditions different of AH Plus sealer (e.g. other conventional endodontic sealer).
Main Outcome
Outcome Measure
Inclusion criteria: Animals: biocompatibility. Cellular: citotoxicity and genotoxicity. Exclusion criteria: Other biological properties (eg, antimicrobial effect, bioactivity, cell migration, cell morphology, cell adhesion, activity of immunological inflammatory biomarkers).
