本品为几乎无色或微带黄色的澄清黏稠液体；气微；味淡而后微辛。本品在乙醇中易溶，与无水乙醇、三氯甲烷、乙醚或冰醋酸能任意混合。相对密度在25℃时应为0.956～0.969（通则0601）。折光率应为1.478～1.480（通则0622）。

检查

酸值应不大于2.0（通则0713）。皂化值应为176～186（通则0713）。碘值应为82～90（通则0713）。他种油类取本品1g，加乙醇4ml，应澄清溶解，再加乙醇15ml，溶液不得发生浑浊。

贮藏

遮光，密封，置阴凉处。

鉴别

取〔含量测定〕项下无水硫酸钠脱水后的上清液，作为供试品溶液。取蓖麻油酸甲酯对照品，加正己烷制成每1ml含2mg的溶液，作为对照品溶液。照薄层色谱法（通则0502）试验，吸取两种溶液各5μl，分别点于同一硅胶G薄层板上，以石油醚（60～90℃）-乙醚-甲酸（11∶4.5∶0.5）为展开剂，展开，取出，晾干，置碘蒸气中熏至斑点显色清晰。供试品色谱中，在与对照品色谱相应的位置上，显相同的黄色斑点。

含量测定

照气相色谱法（通则0521）测定。色谱条件与系统适用性试验以硝基对苯二甲酸改性聚乙二醇为固定相的毛细管柱（柱长为30.0m，内径为0.32mm，膜厚度为0.5μm），柱温为220℃。理论板数按蓖麻油酸甲酯计算应不低于2000。对照品溶液的制备取蓖麻油酸甲酯对照品适量，精密称定，加正己烷制成每1ml含0.5mg的溶液，即得（每1ml折合蓖麻油酸为0.4775mg）。供试品溶液的制备取本品40mg，精密称定，置50ml圆底烧瓶中，加入0.5mol/L氢氧化钾-甲醇溶液5ml，在60℃水浴中回流30分钟，至油滴全部消失，再加入三氟化硼乙醚-甲醇（1∶3，ml/ml）4ml，回流5分钟，冷却，精密加入正己烷5ml，振摇5分钟，分取正己烷，用饱和氯化钠溶液洗涤两次，每次5ml，放置，取上清液，置10ml具塞试管中，加1g无水硫酸钠脱水，振摇，精密量取上清液1ml，置10ml量瓶中，用正己烷稀释至刻度，摇匀，即得。测定法分别精密吸取对照品和供试品溶液各1μl，注入气相色谱仪，测定，即得。本品中含蓖麻油酸（C18H34O3）不得少于50.0%。
