性状
本品呈类球形，直径0.3～1cm，棕黄色。总苞由4～5层苞片组成，外层苞片卵形或条形，外表面中部灰绿色或浅棕色，通常被白毛，边缘膜质；内层苞片长椭圆形，膜质，外表面无毛。总苞基部有的残留总花梗。舌状花1轮，黄色至棕黄色，皱缩卷曲；管状花多数，深黄色。体轻。气芳香，味苦。
检查
水分 不得过14.0%（通则0832第二法）。 总灰分 不得过9.0%（通则2302）。 酸不溶性灰分 不得过2.0%（通则2302）。
贮藏
置阴凉干燥处，防潮，防蛀。
鉴别
取本品粉末0.3g，加甲醇15ml，超声处理30分钟，放冷，滤过，取滤液作为供试品溶液。另取野菊花对照药材0.3g，同法制成对照药材溶液。再取蒙花苷对照品，加甲醇制成每1ml含0.2mg的溶液，作为对照品溶液。照薄层色谱法（通则0502）试验，吸取上述三种溶液各3μl，分别点于同一硅胶G薄层板上，以乙酸丁酯-甲酸-水（2∶1∶1）的上层溶液为展开剂，展开，取出，晾干，喷以2%三氯化铝乙醇溶液，热风吹干，置紫外光灯（365nm）下检视。供试品色谱中，在与对照药材色谱和对照品色谱相应的位置上，显相同颜色的荧光斑点。
含量测定
照高效液相色谱法（通则0512）测定。 色谱条件与系统适用性试验 以十八烷基硅烷键合硅胶为填充剂；以甲醇-水-冰醋酸（26∶23∶1）为流动相；检测波长为334nm。理论板数按蒙花苷峰计算应不低于3000。 对照品溶液的制备 取蒙花苷对照品适量，精密称定，加甲醇溶解（必要时加热）制成每1ml含25μg的溶液，即得。 供试品溶液的制备 取本品粉末（过三号筛）约0.25g。精密称定，置具塞锥形瓶中，精密加入甲醇100ml，称定重量，加热回流3小时，放冷，再称定重量，用甲醇补足减失的重量，摇匀，滤过，取续滤液，即得。 测定法 分别精密吸取对照品溶液与供试品溶液各20μl，注入液相色谱仪，测定，即得。 本品按干燥品计算，含蒙花苷（C28H32O14）不得少于0.80%。
功能与主治
清热解毒，泻火平肝。用于疔疮痈肿，目赤肿痛，头痛眩晕。

9～15g。外用适量，煎汤外洗或制膏外涂。
