性状
本品为橙红色片状或粉状结晶，片状的一面光滑略具光泽，另一面较粗糙。粉末橙色。质硬，性脆；遇光颜色逐渐变深。气微。
检查
亚汞化合物 取本品0.5g，加稀盐酸25ml，溶解后，溶液允许显微浊。 氯化物 取本品0.5g，加水适量与硝酸3ml，溶解后，加水稀释使至约40ml，依法检查（通则0801）。如显浑浊，与标准氯化钠溶液3ml制成的对照液比较，不得更浓（0.006%）。
注意
本品有毒，只可外用，不可内服；外用亦不宜久用；孕妇禁用。
贮藏
置干燥处，遮光，密闭。
鉴别
取本品0.5g，加水10ml，搅匀，缓缓滴加适量的盐酸溶解，溶液显汞盐（通则0301）的鉴别反应。
含量测定
取本品约0.2g，精密称定，加稀硝酸25ml溶解后，加水80ml与硫酸铁铵指示液2ml，用硫氰酸铵滴定液（0.1mol/L）滴定。每1ml硫氰酸铵滴定液（0.1mol/L）相当于10.83mg的氧化汞（HgO）。 本品含氧化汞（HgO）不得少于99.0%。
功能与主治
拔毒，除脓，去腐，生肌。用于痈疽疔疮，梅毒下疳，一切恶疮，肉暗紫黑，腐肉不去，窦道瘘管，脓水淋漓，久不收口。
性味与归经
辛，热；有大毒。归肺、脾经。
用法与用量
外用适量，研极细粉单用或与其他药味配成散剂或制成药捻。
