制法
取断血流，加水煎煮二次，每次1.5小时，煎液滤过，滤液合并，浓缩至相对密度为1.15（80℃）的清膏，加1.7倍量的乙醇，充分搅拌，静置24小时，取上清液，浓缩至适量，干燥成干膏，粉碎，加淀粉适量，装入胶囊，制成1000粒，即得。

鉴别
取本品1g，研细，加甲醇20ml，超声处理15分钟，滤过，滤渣再加甲醇10ml，超声处理15分钟，滤过，合并滤液，蒸干，残渣加甲醇2ml使溶解，加在中性氧化铝柱（100～200目，10g，内径为1～1.5cm）上，用40%甲醇40ml洗脱，收集洗脱液，蒸干，残渣加水30ml使溶解，用水饱和的正丁醇振摇提取2次，每次20ml，合并正丁醇液，用水洗涤2次，每次20ml，取正丁醇液蒸干，残渣加甲醇3ml使溶解，作为供试品溶液。另取醉鱼草皂苷Ⅳb对照品，加甲醇制成每1ml含1mg的溶液，作为对照品溶液。照薄层色谱法（通则0502）试验，吸取上述两种溶液各2μl，分别点于同一硅胶G薄层板上，以三氯甲烷-甲醇-冰醋酸-水（7∶3∶1∶0.3）为展开剂，展开，取出，晾干，喷以10%硫酸乙醇溶液，在105℃加热至斑点显色清晰。供试品色谱中，在与对照品色谱相应的位置上，显相同颜色的斑点。
含量测定
照高效液相色谱法（通则0512）测定。 色谱条件与系统适用性试验 以十八烷基硅烷键合硅胶为填充剂；以甲醇-水（75∶25）为流动相；检测波长为250nm。理论板数按醉鱼草皂苷Ⅳb峰计算应不低于3000。 对照品溶液的制备 取醉鱼草皂苷Ⅳb对照品适量，精密称定，加甲醇制成每1ml含40μg的溶液，即得。 供试品溶液的制备 取装量差异项下的本品内容物，研细，取约0.2g，精密称定，置具塞锥形瓶中，加甲醇20ml，密塞，超声处理（功率220W，频率50kHz）15分钟，滤过，滤渣再加甲醇20ml，超声处理（功率220W，频率50kHz）15分钟，滤过，合并滤液，蒸干，残渣加水30ml使溶解，用水饱和的正丁醇振摇提取4次，每次20ml，合并正丁醇液，用正丁醇饱和的氨试液30ml洗涤，弃去洗涤液，再用正丁醇饱和的水洗涤2次，每次30ml，分取正丁醇液，回收正丁醇至干，残渣用甲醇适量溶解，转移至25ml量瓶中，加甲醇至刻度，摇匀，滤过，取续滤液，即得。 测定法 分别精密吸取对照品溶液与供试品溶液各10μl，注入液相色谱仪，测定，即得。 本品每粒含断血流以醉鱼草皂苷Ⅳb（C48H78O18）计，不得少于1.2mg。
功能与主治
凉血止血。用于血热妄行所致的月经过多、崩漏、吐血、衄血、咯血、尿血、便血，血色鲜红或紫红；功能失调性子宫出血、子宫肌瘤出血及多种出血症、单纯性紫癜、原发性血小板减少性紫癜见上述证候者。
