Disease Definition
MSH2017_2016_08_12:Death of cells in the KIDNEY CORTEX, a common final result of various renal injuries including HYPOXIA; ISCHEMIA; and drug toxicity.MSH2017_2016_08_12:Severe systemic manifestation of trauma and ischemia involving soft tissues, principally skeletal muscle, due to prolonged severe crushing. It leads to increased permeability of the cell membrane and to the release of potassium, enzymes, and myoglobin from within cells. Ischemic renal dysfunction secondary to hypotension and diminished renal perfusion results in acute tubular necrosis and uremia.NCI2016_NICHD_1602D:Damage to the renal tubular epithelial cells resulting in acute kidney injury.|NCI2016_02D:Acute renal failure caused by the cell death of the renal tubules. Causes include nephrotoxins, cytotoxic drugs, and antibiotics.|MSH2017_2016_08_12:Acute kidney failure resulting from destruction of EPITHELIAL CELLS of the KIDNEY TUBULES. It is commonly attributed to exposure to toxic agents or renal ISCHEMIA following severe TRAUMA.|HPO2016_07_04:Acute death of renal tubular cells that usually results from prolonged renal ischemia, nephrotoxins, or sepsis. The clinical course of acute tubular necrosis may be divided into initiation, maintenance, and recovery phases. [HPO:probinson]
