Disease Definition
NCI2016_NICHD_1602D:A chronic lung disorder associated with pulmonary maldevelopment, scarring, and/or inflammation that develops in preterm neonates. The condition is defined based on treatment with supplemental oxygen for at least 28 days adjusted for the degree of prematurity.|NCI2016_02D:Chronic lung disease requiring treatment with oxygen for at least 28 days and with a spectrum of severity from mild to severe, that predominantly affects premature infants. While the radiologic pattern is typical in the closer to term patient, the pattern in the small preterm infant is very non-discrete and variable.(NICHD)|MSH2017_2016_08_12:A chronic lung disease developed after OXYGEN INHALATION THERAPY or mechanical ventilation (VENTILATION, MECHANICAL) usually occurring in certain premature infants (INFANT, PREMATURE) or newborn infants with respiratory distress syndrome (RESPIRATORY DISTRESS SYNDROME, NEWBORN). Histologically, it is characterized by the unusual abnormalities of the bronchioles, such as METAPLASIA, decrease in alveolar number, and formation of CYSTS.|CSP2006:chronic lung disease of infants, possibly related to oxygen toxicity or barotrauma, characterized by bronchiolar metaplasia and interstitial fibrosis.
